NETFLIX BUMPER
CUT TO: INT. BENZO'S SHOP
Ekko takes a book off of a shelf. He walks past several candles and a stack of books before placing the book down and opening it. He writes something and flips the page to see a small doodle of Powder. Cut to a close-up of his face. He begins to have visions of the hextech anomaly and screams. Hanging crystals in the shop gently sway above him. He inspects himself and walks up to a glass pane in a clock to look at his own reflection, gasping in shock. As he takes in his appearance, Powder walks into frame.
POWDER: You're beyond help.
Ekko stumbles backwards.
POWDER: Whoa! Relax, jumpy.
Her voice becomes distorted as the shot zooms in on Ekko's face.
POWDER: (Distorted) I've got a new idea.
Her words become inaudible. Ekko picks up a device from the table and throws it at Powder. She dodges. He picks up a screwdriver.
POWDER: Uh, did you just throw that?
Ekko begins to back away towards the entrance to the shop.
EKKO: Stay, stay back!
As he backs towards the door, someone else opens it from the other side, bumping into him. Ekko turns.
BENZO: Oi, what in the seven sumps is all this racket?
Benzo stands in the doorway holding some packages. Ekko stares without responding.
BENZO: Oi, one of those days, huh?
Powder embraces Ekko from behind.
POWDER: You know those ugly twins. Genius and madness.
Benzo's voice becomes distorted as Ekko walks towards him.
BENZO: (Distorted) Maybe take the madness outside. I still got a business to—
Ekko shoves Benzo's packages to the floor and hugs him.
BENZO: Oh. What's gotten into him?
Ekko sees another vision of the anomaly.
TITLE SEQUENCE
CUT TO: INT. THE LAST DROP BAR
"Open Your Eyes" by Alex Seaver begins playing. Blurry imagery fills the shot, eventually becoming a shot through a glass pane of a door as Ekko approaches, flanked by Powder and Benzo. The trio enters The Last Drop. Benzo says something indistinct as Ekko looks around in slow motion, much of his surroundings glowy and blurry. He stumbles as he sees Vander at the bar, who smiles at him. Powder leads him to a table as he continues to look around. He sits at a table. Powder sits next to him and says something inaudible as he watches Vander and Benzo talk at the bar. He begins absentmindedly sketching the anomaly in his notebook. Powder snaps her fingers.
POWDER: Hey, spaceboy, I'm not talking to myself over here. What is up with you? You've been out of it all day.
EKKO: I feel like I woke up in the wrong universe.
POWDER: This is what happens when you stay up all night.
Ekko takes another glance at Vander and Benzo.
POWDER: Those synapses start firing around like drunk slugs. There's still plenty of time before the competition. Okay? We'll work out the kinks. I've got you.
Powder reaches out to touch his arm. He jerks back and the world seems to throb.
MYLO: Ah, if it isn't Zaun's royalty.
Ekko jolts up out of his seat. Cut to Claggor and Mylo standing nearby.
MYLO: My liege.
Mylo mockingly bows. Claggor and Powder shake their heads.
POWDER: Sit down.
CLAGGOR: Hey, hey, little man. Trouble in paradise?
POWDER: Just the usual project woes.
Ekko sits back down as Claggor and Mylo join them. He stares at them in shock as Claggor talks.
CLAGGOR: Tell me about it. We finally got the hybrids to feed off the fissure gases, but the conversion rate's way too low. They hardly grow. They're nowhere near robust enough to purify all the air down here.
Gert enters the frame and refills Powder's drink.
POWDER: Unless you plant a million of them.
MYLO: No way we're doing that.
Mylo stares at Gert.
CLAGGOR: And we've tried cultivating the soil, infusing the water. No luck.
MYLO: I'll be right back.
Mylo gets up from the table and walks out of frame.
CLAGGOR: Oh, no. Go. Save him from himself.
Powder walks out of frame after Mylo.
CLAGGOR: Where would you be without her?
The world throbs again as Ekko continues to sketch the anomaly. Cut to Mylo approaching Gert from behind.
MYLO: Hey, Gert.
His voice cracks. She doesn't notice him.
MYLO: No. Oh, come on. Hey—
POWDER: Hey, Gert.
Powder comes up on Mylo's side. Gert turns around.
POWDER: Do the Chem Sisters have another show coming up? Mylo here is a big fan. Like, huge.
GERT: Cool. Uh, yeah, the old man's gonna let us play the party the night before that Innovators Competition you all are gunning for.
Back at the table, Ekko continues to sketch the anomaly as the world continues to throb. The sensation becomes too much and he drops his pencil. Back at the bar, Vander approaches Powder.
VANDER: What would they do without you?
POWDER: There would probably be some arm-flailing.
Vander chuckles.
VANDER: You know, one thing I learned as a bartender: As good as it feels to pour everyone's drink, you need to fill your own cup every now and again.
POWDER: Let me guess. You think I'm holding myself back.
VANDER: I think you're too smart to spend your life in a bar.
Back at the table, Ekko holds his head in his hands as the world continues to throb. The conversation around him sounds muffled.
CLAGGOR: (Muffled) Hey, professor.
EKKO: Professor?
The camera pans to Heimerdinger, who has arrived at the table holding an instrument.
HEIMERDINGER: Am I late for a gathering of the minds?
Ekko jolts up, knocking his notebook and pencil to the floor.
CLAGGOR: Whoa.
Ekko stumbles away. Heimerdinger sees Ekko's fallen notebook open to the page with the sketch of the anomaly.
HEIMERDINGER: Oh.
The world distorts around Ekko. Cut to the alley behind the bar. He throws up. Heimerdinger exits and hands Ekko his notebook back as he talks.
HEIMERDINGER: One can't go shouting from the rooftops about being thrust into parallel dimensions without awkward consequences. It seems the anomaly which dislodged us from our proverbial reality also scattered us across time.
He flings Ekko's pencil.
EKKO: Man, I thought I was going crazy. How long have you been here?
Heimerdinger closes the door behind him.
HEIMERDINGER: One thousand, one hundred twenty-eight days, six hours, and twenty minutes. Give or take.
EKKO: So you've just been waiting for me all this time?
HEIMERDINGER: Precisely. Or rather, imprecisely. I grew skeptical you'd arrive, even during my unusually long lifetime.
EKKO: What about Jayce? Is he here?
Heimerdinger strums his instrument as the conversation continues.
HEIMERDINGER: I fear he may have wound up elsewhere. The anomaly behaved differently around him.
EKKO: Tell me you figured out a way to get us home.
HEIMERDINGER: That is a veritable conundrum. I'm afraid Hextech was never invented here. And without a creation so prodigious as the Hexgates...
EKKO: No anomaly.
HEIMERDINGER: Oh, it isn't all bad. I've been able to accomplish wonderful things in this world. Give it time to settle. This place will grow on you. You'll see.
EKKO: Grow on me? I have people back home who need me. We don't belong here.
HEIMERDINGER: And yet we can't leave.
EKKO: I'm gonna find a way back, with or without you.
Powder enters the alleyway from the bar.
HEIMERDINGER: Oh!
POWDER: Oh. Uh… I was gonna go see Vi.
EKKO: Vi?
POWDER: You wanna come?
CUT TO: EXT. WASTELAND
A glimpse of the anomaly transitions the scene to an aerial shot of Jayce lying unconscious in the middle of a barren, smoky wasteland.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) What have we done?
It begins to rain. Jayce wakes up and vomits. He gets up and tries to pick up his hammer, but it distorts. He drops it back to the ground and looks around.
JAYCE: Hello? Is anyone out there?
He hears a sound in the distance.
JAYCE: Who's there?
A cloaked figure with a staff appears in the distance.
JAYCE: You. Did you bring me here? Where are we?
The figure disappears back into the smoke.
JAYCE: Wait!
Jayce runs after the figure. After a few moments, he stops. Ahead of him is a corpse frozen as though it was mid-step when it died, running from something. Jayce approaches it before being started by something behind it. He slowly walks to the edge of a nearby cliff.
JAYCE: No.
He falls to his knees.
JAYCE: It can't be.
Cut to a wide shot, revealing the wasteland to the ruins of Piltover. In the far distance, clouds circle around the city's central tower.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
Powder and Ekko enter Powder's lair. Powder approaches the center while Ekko hangs back.
POWDER: What's with the third degree, Ekko? We've been working on this for months.
Ekko looks around at Powder's living space.
EKKO: Humor me.
POWDER: You had one of your funky dreams about an energy-storage device that you swore would win the competition, so… you came to me for help.
She picks up a lighter from the central desk.
EKKO: I came to you?
POWDER: You weren't gonna figure it out yourself.
While Powder walks to another part of the room, Ekko examines some blueprints on her desk.
EKKO: "Zero-loss chemical energy cell."
He picks up a gear from the desk.
EKKO: And this invention. You don't have some alternative purpose for it?
POWDER: You're the big idea guy. Sorry, sis.
She arrives at one end of the room. As she steps to the side, Ekko sees a doll in Vi's likeness at an apparent shrine to her. He gasps.
POWDER: Someone's wigging out over his project and having an identity crisis again.
Ekko sees a painting of a teenage Vi. Powder lights some incense. Ekko comes closer to the shrine.
POWDER: No names. I got the "not living up to my potential" speech from Vander again. Reminds me of you. Hmm?
EKKO: She's dead?
He falls back into a chair at the shrine.
EKKO: How?
Powder lights several candles.
POWDER: That's not funny, Ekko.
EKKO: It was a mistake to come here.
POWDER: What's that supposed to mean? Just 'cause you're having a bad day, don't take it out on me.
EKKO: Was it you?
POWDER: You gave us the tip. We went on that job because of you.
EKKO: The job. That's why there's no Hextech here.
POWDER: You should leave. Go. Before I do something I regret.
EKKO: Believe me, I'm working on it.
He gets up. "Open Your Eyes" by Alex Seaver begins to play. Ekko takes the energy cell project from Powder's desk as he goes, knocking several objects to the floor.
CUT TO: EXT. BRIDGE BETWEEN ZAUN AND PILTOVER
Cut to Ekko as he walks along the bustling bridge between Zaun and Piltover. He holds his stopwatch in his hands. He stops at the edge of the bridge. The scene abruptly cuts to a memory of Ekko after his fight with Jinx in the same spot. She lies unconscious on the ground as he stands over her. He's jerked back to the present as some playing children bump into him. As he looks around the bridge, Heimerdinger performing "Spin The Wheel" begins playing. The song continues as the scene cuts back and forth between Ekko and Jayce. Jayce drags his hammer through the ruins of Piltover. Ekko returns to the site of Jayce's original apartment, finding it in ruins from an explosion. Jayce traverses the ruins of Piltover, much of which appears covered in material that resembles the anomaly. Ekko pulls a hammer and clamps out of his bag and begins to investigate cracks in the wall of the apartment. Visions of the version of events from this timeline begin to intercut between Ekko's investigation. Powder cries in the apartment, cradling Vi's corpse.
POWDER: Violet, don't! Please, no...
Ekko finds shards of a hex crystal embedded in the wall. Mylo cries as he sees Vi's corpse. Marcus and another enforcer enter the room. Claggor tightly grips his goggles. Ekko carefully removes the shards from the wall. In Powder's hands are a few hex crystals. Jayce takes shelter from the rain and sees another set of corpses affected by the anomaly. Ekko traces a new sketch of the anomaly over his old one. He comes to the tree that in the original timeline was the firelights base, but is uninhabited in this one. Jayce makes his way through dozens of upright corpses which seem to have died mid-combat. Ekko fiddles with his stopwatch as dragonflies fly around him. He gets up and takes in the sight of the tree.
CUT TO: EXT. THE LAST DROP
Cut to Heimerdinger as he finishes the song in front of a crowd.
HEIMERDINGER: Thank you very much.
Someone whistles and applause begins. The shot pans up from a group of children in the audience to Ekko, also applauding.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut to a shot of several anomalous corpses running. Another corpse cradles the corpse of an infant. Jayce is panting as he drags his hammer through the ruins. He comes to a stop and sets his hammer down as he spots something. Cut to a figure moving up in a nearby archway. When it cuts back to Jayce, a new figure is behind him. It creaks as it slowly moves. Jayce falls back in shock. He struggles to lift his hammer onto his shoulder and begins running to escape several robotic figures, though they don't appear to chase after him. As he looks behind him, he trips and falls down a far crack in the ground. His hammer slams into the ground first, and he gets knocked unconscious as he faceplants.
CUT TO: INT. THE LAST DROP
Cut to a shot of some berries being dropped onto a pancake. Ekko looks up as Gert sets up for the Innovator Competition nearby. Heimerdinger is taking a look at the hex crystal shards Ekko recovered from the apartment.
HEIMERDINGER: You think you can recreate the anomaly with these?
EKKO: That's the theory.
HEIMERDINGER: Inconceivable.
EKKO: So you'll help me?
HEIMERDINGER: I meant that quite literally. I don't believe this can be done.
Ekko sees Powder playfully swat at Gert. He smiles at her, but she scowls and turns away from him.
HEIMERDINGER: Tampering with the Arcane never ends well, lad. The risk is far too great.
EKKO: You said I was your pupil. I need a professor. Better yet, a partner.
HEIMERDINGER: Oh, blast nozzles. How could I forsake a brilliant lad in need?
CUT TO: EXT. CREVICE
Cut back to Jayce at the bottom of the crevice he fell into. Heimerdinger's last word plays over the shot.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) Again.
Jayce wakes up. A montage begins. He tries to stand but his leg is broken. Water drips down from stalactites. He approaches a nearby wall and looks up through the crevice. Water drips down from stalactites. He starts a fire. He painfully sets his leg back into place. He approaches a pool of water and drinks from it, not noticing the cloaked figure across the pool watching him. It disappears when he looks up. He wipes away at a wound on his leg and finds an anomalous material. Water drips down from stalactites. He lies on the ground. He attempts to scale a wall but falls in pain. A timelapse of his hammer shows it anomalously eroded. He lies on the ground in pain. His fire continues to burn. He eats raw meat from a dead anomalous animal. He begins scratching into the wall. Water drips down from stalactites. As he examines his reflection in the pool of water, voices echo in his mind.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) I never asked for this.
He eats more raw meat.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) That research is everything.
He scratches into the wall.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) My whole life.
Robotic figures creak as they move. Jayce looks up out of the crevice. He continues scratching into the wall.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) He was my mentor, Mel.
He cries as he stares into the fire.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) And I betrayed him.
He eats more raw meat.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) You must destroy it.
The anomalous wound on Jayce's leg worsens.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) It corrupts.
Jayce screams in pain on the floor.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) Consumes.
An anomalous creature skitters away. Jayce continues scratching into the wall.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) I was trying to create magic.
Jayce stares into the fire and sees a vision of Mel.
AMBESSA: (Voiceover) Piltover.
MEL: (Voiceover) It's your time now, Jayce.
The vision of Mel turns into a vision of Viktor. Jayce scratches into the wall.
MEL: (Voiceover) Perhaps it's time.
JAYCE: (Voiceover) No, no.
MEL: (Voiceover) For the era of magic.
The fire rages. Jayce continues scratching into the wall.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) I've seen nations destroyed...
JAYCE: (Voiceover) Please.
A wide shot reveals Jayce has been carving notes and an image of the anomaly into the wall.
HEIMERDINGER: (Voiceover) ...exactly like this.
Jayce sees a vision of a robotic figure. The montage ends. He cries out and tries to catch his breath, now sporting a beard. He looks up through the crevice. Scraps in the background reveal he has dismantled his hammer and turned it into a leg brace. He painfully scales his way out of the crevice, slipping and stopping along the way. Eventually he makes his way to the surface and collapses on the ground, rain drizzling down on him.
CUT TO: EXT. TREE clearing
Cut to a shot of lily pads in a pool of water. A dragonfly zips around.
EKKO: Watch your step.
Cut to Ekko and Powder. He leads her into the clearing of the tree in the undercity while covering her eyes with his hand.
EKKO: We're almost there.
POWDER: I don't know what this is all about, but if you're trying to apologize, dragging me through the…
He takes his hand away from her eyes and stops leading her. Her eyes dart around and she doesn't say anything for a moment.
POWDER: You painted this?
Ekko begins walking forward.
EKKO: I had this dream where things went another way.
Cut to a wide shot of the clearing. A large mural covers the structure under the tree, with several overlapping portraits of Vi as an adult. Powder follows Ekko forward.
POWDER: She looks so badass.
EKKO: You don't know the half of it. She was the toughest person in all of Zaun. Nothing scared her.
Ekko sits while Powder gets closer to the mural.
POWDER: No, not my sister.
Powder strokes the mural.
POWDER: Vi was strong because she was afraid. Her fear of losing us is what made her fight so hard.
EKKO: You were different in my dream too.
POWDER: Oh, yeah, buster? Is that what this is about? You want me to change?
EKKO: No. No, no, I just…
He gets up and stands next to her.
EKKO: You aren't the kind of person who helps other people with their projects. Your ideas change the world. I can't shake the feeling that that's who you're supposed to be.
POWDER: Things are good, Ekko. I like my life. I don't wanna lose what makes me "me" chasing some wild dream.
They sit down in front of the mural.
EKKO: Sometimes taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind.
POWDER: You're a real mystery, aren't you, mister?
He chuckles.
POWDER: All right, out with it. What do you want from me?
Cut to another wide shot of the mural.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut to an aerial shot of Jayce slowly making his way through some muck, using a stick to poke ahead. He walks through a crowd of anomalous robots, many of which creak and move as he passes.
CUT TO: INT. THE LAST DROP BAR
Cut to a shot of Ekko holding out the hex crystal shards he recovered. Cut to Powder, who gasps and looks at him. Cut to a wide shot of Powder, Heimerdinger, and Ekko sitting at a table in The Last Drop after hours. A montage begins. Cut to the effigy of Vi at the shrine Powder built for her. Ekko lights some incense. Heimerdinger observes them. All three work on notes on a chalkboard. Ekko and Powder draw a shape together. Heimerdinger spreads notes out on a table. Ekko and Powder calibrate some instruments. Powder examines the chalkboard. Ekko puts the hex crystal shards in his stopwatch and connects a cable. There's a puff of smoke. All three inaudibly converse. Ekko and Powder recalibrate instruments. Heimerdinger connects a cable which causes some tools to float and fluctuate anomalously. Powder examines Ekko's notes.
POWDER: Huh.
She lays on the couch and watches Ekko polish something. They calibrate more instruments. Heimerdinger connects a cable. They all watch as an anomaly appears briefly but vanishes. Ekko and Powder look at each other through the glass pane of the device. Ekko carves a rune. He and Powder place several runes into the device. Heimerdinger pulls something. Ekko calibrates an instrument and connects a cable. The montage comes to an end as all three shield their eyes from a flash of bright light. The device smokes and groans. A new anomaly forms, much smaller than the original. Ekko leans in close to look at it.
EKKO: It's so small.
HEIMERDINGER: Golly, we've done it.
EKKO: Halfway there.
Ekko pulls a toggle on the machine. The anomaly pulsates. Heimerdinger drops a tool as it briefly fluctuates anomalously.
POWDER: So, what does it do?
EKKO: Uh…
Ekko sighs and pulls the toggle again. The anomaly pulsates. Heimerdinger drops a tool as it briefly fluctuates anomalously.
POWDER: So, what does it do?
EKKO: You just asked me that.
POWDER: No, I didn't.
EKKO: I'm too tired for games.
Heimerdinger reaches down to pick up the tool. Ekko pulls the toggle again. The anomaly pulsates.
POWDER: No, I didn't.
Heimerdinger reaches down to pick up the tool.
EKKO: It's a time loop!
HEIMERDINGER: Huh? A time loop?
He hits his head as he gets up. Ekko pulls the toggle again. The anomaly pulsates. Heimerdinger hits his head again.
HEIMERDINGER: Huh?
EKKO & HEIMERDINGER: A time loop?
POWDER: You're going back in time!
Heimerdinger runs back to the chalkboard.
HEIMERDINGER: Gadzooks. How did you stumble upon that?
Ekko walks over to him.
EKKO: I was playing with inversions on Jayce's acceleration rune.
He circles a rune on the chalkboard.
HEIMERDINGER: How far did you go?
EKKO: I don't know. A second?
POWDER: Try going back further.
She tosses Ekko his stopwatch.
HEIMERDINGER: Take it slow, lad. We wouldn't want to push a new invention too far too quickly.
Ekko moves a dial on the device one tick forward and pulls out his stopwatch. He starts the timer and pulls the toggle on the device. The camera zooms around inside the device as it activates, rushing past parts of the machinery and flashes of lights. Energy swirls around the anomaly. Everything slows down around Ekko as he looks around and keeps track of how far back he goes.
EKKO: One.
Things move backwards through time.
EKKO: Two.
A bead of sweat runs back up Powder's face.
EKKO: Three.
HEIMERDINGER: Gadzooks.
Heimerdinger's face distorts. Energy swirls behind Ekko.
EKKO: Four.
Heimerdinger explodes. Ekko stops the test and returns time to normal.
EKKO: The limit is four seconds.
Heimerdinger watches him, now back together.
HEIMERDINGER: Are you certain, my boy? What were the indicators?
Ekko marks a solid line on the dial of the machine with red chalk.
EKKO: Trust me. It's four seconds.
He sits in front of the device.
POWDER: Amazing. We could show it off at the party.
EKKO: We aren't done.
Powder squats in front of him.
POWDER: Please go change before the party.
She picks a bit of fur from the exploded Heimerdinger off of Ekko's face before getting back up and walking away. Heimerdinger pushes a ladder closer to the machine.
HEIMERDINGER: I think I might know how to give it a boost.
As Heimerdinger and Ekko talk, Powder walks out of frame with a pensive look.
EKKO: A boost?
HEIMERDINGER: A momentary upgrade, if you will.
EKKO: That's great. Where do we start?
Heimerdinger pulls the container with the anomaly out of the machine.
HEIMERDINGER: You can start by attending your party. One's thoughts are more easily gathered in isolation.
Cut to a close up of Heimerdinger through the glass of the container as he stares at the anomaly.
HEIMERDINGER: And what's the point of a device like this if you don't enjoy the time you have?
Ekko looks off in the direction Powder left.
CUT TO: EXT. RUINS OF PILTOVER
Cut to a wide shot of Jayce making his way up floating chunks of the ruined city. He slips and cries out. He makes his way up the tower in the center of the city. He takes a last look behind him at the decimated cityscape.
CUT TO: INT. THE LAST DROP
Cut between several shots at the Innovators Competition, including various devices, attendees, and food. Claggor explains his and Mylo's submission to another attendee. Ekko looks around.
BENZO: There he is.
Benzo comes up next to Ekko at the bar.
BENZO: Hey, nervous, kid? Big day tomorrow.
EKKO: It's all I can think about.
BENZO: Where's the little lady?
EKKO: Not sure. She said something about making an entrance.
BENZO: Ah. She does love a spectacle, eh?
EKKO: Yeah. Hey, in case I don't remember to tell you tomorrow, you've always meant the world to me, Benzo.
BENZO: Oh. Well, you, uh… Ach. Uh, you… Oh, don't get all mushy on me now. Hey!
They embrace.
VANDER: Making the big man misty, are you?
Vander comes up to them. Benzo pulls back from Ekko.
BENZO: Ah, these damned allergies!
VANDER: You should be proud of yourself, Ekko. Powder's been raving about your Z-Drive. Can't remember the last time I saw her so alive. I have the feeling that you'll be running this place soon.
Silco comes up on Vander's side from behind.
SILCO: So there's a chance for us yet.
EKKO: You?
SILCO: Didn't think I'd miss your big day, did you?
EKKO: Didn't you try to kill him?
SILCO: Greatest thing we can do in life is find the power to forgive.
Benzo scoffs. Ekko takes a drink just as the lights go out. The attendees begin to cheer. Someone pulls a lever that pops balloons full of confetti and lights up some neon letters that say "Innovators Competition." Gert begins DJing. Claggor and Mylo embrace in the crowd as "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" by Stromae and Pomme begins to play. Powder enters the dance floor and makes eye contact with Ekko. They approach each other and begin dancing as the shot switches from real-time to still frames in succession. Cut to them outside later, looking out over the city. The shot cuts back and forth between their conversation outside and their earlier dance as they talk.
POWDER: Some night.
EKKO: It's beautiful.
POWDER: Where'd you learn those moves?
EKKO: Oh, I was just following your lead.
POWDER: Mm. He's got lines.
EKKO: Hey. Uh… I just want to thank you. You know, for everything. I used to dream the undercity could be like this. But somewhere, I… got consumed by all the ways it wasn't. I gave up on it. Gave up on you.
POWDER: I've never seen you give up on anything, Ekko.
EKKO: You ever wish you could just… just stay in one moment?
POWDER: Sometimes taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind.
EKKO: I promise I'll never forget this.
POWDER: You better not.
They lean in for a kiss but pull back at the last second.
EKKO: Sorry, I...
POWDER: No… It's fine, I…
EKKO: Can we just pretend like it's the first time?
They kiss.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut abruptly to a close-up of Jayce's determined face, rain drenching him. As he makes his way through anomalous smoke, he suddenly finds himself at the top of the tower above the cloudline. The camera pans from a bright, sunny sky to a figure in the distance. Cut to a wide shot as Jayce approaches.
CUT TO: EXT. THE LAST DROP BAR
Cut to Powder, now sitting outside alone. She sighs and takes out a small package which contains a necklace with a blue rose. As she looks at it and smiles, the air suddenly wobbles anomalously. She turns to look behind her.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
Cut back inside as the device crackles with energy. Ekko finds Heimerdinger at work.
HEIMERDINGER: Ekko, my lad. You're just in time.
EKKO: This is a big upgrade!
HEIMERDINGER: Just a moment. I only need to hook up the final power supply.
He adjusts some of the machinery. They both look at the anomaly.
EKKO: Whoa.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut to a shot of the figure Jayce was approaching. It is one of the anomalous corpses, kneeling and holding another version of his axe. Jayce kneels on the other side of the axe and looks deeply at the figure.
JAYCE: This is where it all started, isn't it? The end of Piltover.
Cut to a wide shot, revealing the cloaked figure from earlier has arrived.
JAYCE: Because of Hextech.
He says nothing for a moment.
JAYCE: Why did you ever give me this?
He looks down at the original hex rune, now on a bracelet on his wrist.
JAYCE: Why?
The cloaked figure says nothing.
JAYCE: It doesn't have to go this way, right? Just tell me there's a chance.
The cloaked figure slowly turns towards him. Cut to a wide shot. Jayce reacts to the figure but their face isn't visible in the shot.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
Cut to Ekko. He pulls the toggle on the anomaly's container. Cut to a medium shot. He and Heimerdinger are standing in between three metal curves which crackle with energy as they interact with the anomaly.
HEIMERDINGER: Oh, I do wish I could apologize to Ms. Powder for co-opting her space like this. It truly was the only way.
He pushes a button which causes the metal curves to begin spinning around them. The machine crackles with energy and the anomaly fluctuates, growing to a much larger size around them.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut to a close-up of Jayce. He catches his breath before looking up at the cloaked figure.
JAYCE: Send me back.
The cloaked figure, face out of frame, puts their hand on the anomalous corpse between them. It groans as it slowly pushes the handle of the hammer towards Jayce. Jayce grabs the handle. The corpse lets go and Jayce picks up the hammer.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
The machine shudders with power. The panel of a switchboard flies off and is disintegrated.
HEIMERDINGER: Never a dull moment.
The anomaly swirls around them.
HEIMERDINGER: I must say that since I've met you, lad, I've truly lived.
EKKO: What?
The machine crackles.
HEIMERDINGER: Back in a wink.
Heimerdinger runs off.
EKKO: No! Heimerdinger, wait! Wait!
Heimerdinger falls to the ground as the machine flashes and crackles. Powder arrives and rushes down the stairs towards them. Heimerdinger adjusts some of the machinery. He falls to the ground and picks up the two cables. Ekko looks on helplessly. They make eye contact.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Cut to a medium shot of Jayce as he lifts the hammer.
JAYCE: I won't fail.
The cloaked figure opens their hand to reveal an anomaly which expands around both of them. The rune on Jayce's bracelet is absorbed into his skin.
JAYCE: I swear it.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
Cut back to a close-up of Heimerdinger. He and Ekko make eye contact.
EKKO: No!
Heimerdinger connects the two cables.
CUT TO: EXT. PILTOVER RUINS
Jayce is absorbed by the anomaly.
CUT TO: INT. POWDER'S LAIR
Heimerdinger disappears. The cables fall to the ground. Powder rounds a corner to see her timeline's Ekko lying unconscious on the ground in front of the anomaly. She looks up and sees the original Ekko in the anomaly with the time loop device. As the anomaly swirls around him, he looks at the shocked Powder with a wistful expression. After a few moments, he dissolves into the anomaly, which then disappears. The room is silent for just a moment.
EKKO: Powder?
POWDER: Huh?
She looks down at the Ekko from her timeline as he wakes up.
EKKO: What happened?
She laughs breathlessly. Cut to black. Cut to a wide shot of her at her shrine to Vi later. She winds up the Vi effigy and it begins to play the song "A Keepsake." She sits backwards and opens a drawer with Vi's name on. Inside is a satchel with several hex crystals. She places the necklace next to it. Cut to black.
