Q: what inspired the song ["Tongue Tied"]? -@hearmenow___

I think what inspired the song, me, 'Mello, and 'bear have been, kind of, such fans of each other's music, so we wanted to do a song together, [and] add an energy that accumulates all of us, and kind of bring rock 'n' roll back into, like, the nightclubs. It was a sick process, and it looks like everyone's loving it, so it's mad!

I mean, it sounds obvious to be honest, but "if you feel like you're tongue-tied, then we're tongue-tied together." 'Cause, I don't know, that line talks about, kind of, me feeling very unified right now, and the people I meet and have a lot in common with. It just makes me feel like I've got a place to be, um, and it makes me feel like, I feel good in the fact that I know that I'm not alone in the way that I feel and the way that I think.

We wanted to, kind of, amplify the current climate, where a lot of people feel like they, um, can't say what they want because they've been suppressed by someone else. We wanted to be a bit like Black Mirror, um, a bit like Mad Max, and just kind of make you get that fire in your belly, do you know what I mean? Like, pour gasoline all over the fire that's already inside a lot of people's bellies outside, or, out there. Um, we hope you love it, it looks like it's going crazy. Rock 'n' roll!

When we were filming a scene where they get me on the ground, and they have these batons and one of the guys, like, proper hit me on the head really hard. And, um, I don't think he knew that, um, that he did it. I kind of didn't want to be a dick, so I just pretended he didn't do it. I was just like, ow, suffer in silence.

How did I feel when filming the music video? Excited and happy, but tired, because I had a show in New York [on October 14th], and then had two shoots for, like, um, live shoots, and then got on a red-eye, flew to L.A., landed, did the video, then got on another red-eye and did [The Late Late Show with] Stephen Colbert [in New York], so it was a bit of a whirlwind, but I enjoyed it very much. And it came out really cool, so I'm happy as Larry. Ahh!

I felt like I didn't have a purpose in my life until I found people who understood me for who I was, and then I found that I was supposed to be with them right there in that minute. And initially I wasn't looking for those people, so I think, like, you have got purpose. Every day, man. To breathe, and to love, and to fucking see the world, man. And you'll find out what you're gonna do, it'll come to you, I promise.

How do I apply lipstick? I go like, "bang," I kinda outline my lips and then color it in. The coolest person I ever saw putting lipstick on was a girl on the bus. She used to just put it on her face, and she just had that attitude, like, the "I look amazing even if you don't know it yet." And it really inspired me all the time. She used to, like, just slap it on. I love messy makeup, I think it's the best. [*smudges lipstick*]
