'. ¿Quién fue Chacalón? Lorenzo Palacios Quispe, mejor conocido en el medio musical como Chacalón, fue un músico y cantante peruano responsable de la mayor popularización de la música chicha junto a José Luis Carvallo y su banda La Nueva Crema. Nació en Lima, Perú, el 26 de abril de 1950. Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar Fue hijo biológico de Lorenzo Palacios Huaypacusi y Olimpia Quispe. Su madre luego se casó con Silverio Escalante, albañil, con quien tuvo 14 hijos. Debido a la escasez económica de su hogar, Chacalón bailó y cantó desde pequeña edad, incluso llegó a robar comida, pero también se dedicó a humitero (vendedores de humita) y vendedor de algunos comestibles. Cantaba entonces huaynos con su hermano Alfonso, conocido como "Chacal", en bares y restaurantes. Inicios de Chacalón en la Música Entre 1965-1966 formó parte de una banda llamada Los Amigos del Barrio, formada por niños de aproximadamente su misma edad. Se hace conocido entonces como el "Chinito de los andes", por su afición a la música andina peruana y por sus ojos rasgados. Posteriormente, abandona el colegio y se dedica al oficio de zapatero.
