Actualmente su alineación se encuentra integrada por Johnny Rzeznik y Robby Takac. Es conocido por sus canciones, como: "Fallin' Down", "Guz You're Gone" y "Come To Me". Significado del nombre Según una publicación de la revista Rolling Stone, en 1999, la banda eligió su nombre de un anuncio de True Detective para un juguete, llamado Goo Goo Doll. Sin embargo, Rzeznik dijo que no recordaba cómo eligieron el nombre. "Teníamos un concierto y tuvimos que pensar en algún tipo de nombre para tocar en el espectáculo. Es un nombre un poco estúpido", señaló.
