Nació en Fort Worth, Texas, Estados Unidos, el 26 de enero de 1970. Es conocido por ser uno de los artistas más influyentes en el género de la música gospel contemporánea. También es conocido por su labor filantrópica y su activismo en favor de la juventud y la comunidad afroamericana.
