'. ¿Quién es Álex Cuba? Alexis Puentes, conocido en el medio musical como Álex Cuba, es un cantante y compositor cubano-canadiense. Nació en 1974 en Cuba, pero más adelante adquirió la nacionalidad de su patria adoptiva. Sus interpretaciones son en inglés y español. En 2010, ganó el Grammy Latino al Mejor Artista Nuevo. Salió de la tierra en que nació pero, como muchos emigrantes, se llevó el país en el alma. Su seudónimo y el título de algunas de sus composiciones dan cuenta de su cubanidad. En sus canciones de pop latino, jazz afrocubano o folk, expresa mucho de la música cubana y latinoamericana. Entre sus éxitos, se encuentran "Solo mía", con la colaboración de Leonel García Núñez. También han sonado mucho sus temas "Dividido", junto a Silvana Estrada y "Hoy como ayer", con Pablo Milanés. Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar Álex Cuba nació y vivió su infancia en Cuba. Específicamente en Artemisa, situada a unos sesenta kilómetros al suroeste de La Habana. Con su padre, el guitarrista Valentín Puentes, aprendió a tocar ese instrumento a los seis años de edad.
