Louis Armstrong - Baby Its Cold Outside Live At Pasadena 1951 Lyrics

[Intro: Velma Middleton]
Baby, it's cold outside

[Verse: Velma Middleton, Louis Armstrong & Both]
I really can't stay (Mama, it's cold outside)
I've got to go ‘way (I said, it's cold outside)
I wish I knew how (Tickled to death that you dropped in)
To break this spell
To break this spell (You better break that spell or go to—)
My mother will start to worry (Mama, what's your hurry?)
Father will be pacin' the floor (When he's gotta go, he's gotta go)
Really, I'd better hurry (Please don't hurry)
Well, maybe just a half a drink more (Put some hot records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (Mama, it's bad out there)
Hey, pops (What's that?)
What's in this drink? (Ain't no fun to be had out there, you know)
This evening has been (Ain't even started yet)
So nice and fine (Take another drink of wine, maybe you'll change your mind)
I ought to say no, no, no, sir (You don't have to call me sir)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (Give it up, give it up, give it up)
I really can't stay (And that old lie)
Oh, but it's cold outside, ba-ba-da-zoo,
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-zoo

[Spoken: Louis Armstrong, Velma Middleton]
Look here babes, look at that window there
See that window right there? The one up top
Not that window, honey
You looking at a bay window there
I'm speaking about the one that's not boarded up
Over here, see there?
Oh yeah, yeah
See all that snow coming down?
Coming down the? Yep
You know one thing, Velma
I really shouldn't say ain't
Cos it ain't right (both laugh)
But you know, you know one thing
Ain't no use in you going out there
In all that bad weather
Gettin' them little old Duesenbergs all frosted and stuff like that
Well pops, you know how mom and pop is
I didn't tell 'em where I was goin' You didn't do what?
In fact, I sneaked outta the house
Oh, Velma, don't you never do that to your mom and papa
You hear that? Hear?
But since you're here, that's what I
[Verse: Velma Middleton, Louis Armstrong & Both]
There's bound to be talk tomorrow
What about my sorrow?
At least there will be plenty implied
Mmm, you tellin' me
I really can't stay
(Scat)
Ahh but it's cold outside

[Spoken: Velma Middleton, Louis Armstrong, 3rd voice]
Hey pops What's that?
You know I'd really like to stick around
Why don't you do that?
Well I live so far, I live way over on the other side of town
You dig, way way over
Don't pay that chick no mind
What you say, what you say?
I say don't pay that chick no mind, I dug her
She hangs out on South [?]
No, no, South [?]?
That's where she hangs, yes indeed
No and she told... You told me you lived in Sugarhill, babes ... eight dollars

[Verse: Louis Armstrong & Both]
Take your shoes off, Lucy
And let's get juicy, ha ha ha
Oh but it's cold, (scat), outside
(Scat)
