Tears of A Soldier by: Andrew Neil Maternick. Febuary 2015
There was a soldier who fought in the Civil War
I think I told ya this story before
He lives in a forest right by a creek
He lost his horse all he does is weep
Tears of a soldier he had a woman he wanted to hold her
Tears of a soldier who never got older who never got older
I remember the day when Johnny did say
“Dad and mom I’m going to Vietnam”
He returned badly burned
Lost his legs now he begs
Tears of a soldier he had a woman he wanted to hold her
Tears of a soldier turn to ice as the world gets colder
Middle East a bloody bath
He lost his peace he can’t even laugh
He walks around doctor gives him pills
He’d rather drown and forget all is kills
Tears of a soldier he had a woman he wanted to hold her
Tears of a soldier “Baby I love you” the last words he told her
