'. ¿Quién es Sergio Vargas? Sergio Pascual Vargas Parra, a quien el mundo musical conoce como Sergio Vargas, es un cantante de merengue y bolero. Nació en Villa Altagracia, República Dominicana, el 15 de marzo de 1960. Popular y exitoso en las décadas ochenta y noventa, llamada época de oro del merengue, hoy se le califica como uno de los referentes del género. Durante las últimas dos décadas del Siglo XX la discografía del cantante fue la más importante, por el número de ediciones y la popularidad obtenida, gracias a su talento y gran capacidad de trabajo. Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar Sergio Vargas, hijo de Sergio Vargas y de Ana Parra, quien murió cuando el niño solo tenía seis años de edad, se crio junto a su abuela. La humilde familia habitaba en las viviendas cercanas a un ingenio azucarero de Villa Altagracia. Desde muy temprana edad Sergio trabajó junto con su familia en los cañaverales, donde, machete en mano, interpretaba algunas canciones; en su tiempo de descanso también cantaba y tocaba la guitarra, siguiendo las primeras lecciones que le dio su papá.
