'. ¿Quién es Épica? Es un grupo neerlandés de Gothic Metal que mezcla la voz mezzo-soprano de Simone Simons acompañada con guitarras melódicas y contundentes, usando voces guturales, coros y pasajes en latín. La banda fue fundada en abril del 2002 por el ex integrante de After Forever, Mark Jansen. En sus inicios la banda se llamó Sahara Dust y tenía como vocalista a la cantante noruega Helena Michaelsen que antes formó parte de Trail of Tears. En octubre de 2002, Mark Jansen invitó a Simone Simons con apenas 17 años de edad (y su pareja en ese momento), para ser la vocalista definitiva.En noviembre la banda entró a grabar al estudio en la ciudad de Rotterdam (donde After Forever grabó Prison of Desire), para grabar su primer demo Cry For The Moon, que sería lanzado el mes siguiente.
