Una Introducción a la Grandeza
Tool es una banda estadounidense de rock progresivo y metal formada en 1990 en Los Ángeles, California. Con una alineación única y una dedicación ferviente al perfeccionamiento artístico, la banda ha dejado una huella imborrable en la música contemporánea. La combinación de su complejidad instrumental, letras introspectivas y enfoques visuales ha establecido a Tool como una de las bandas más influyentes de su tiempo.
La Formación y los Primeros Años
La banda se formó cuando el vocalista Maynard James Keenan conoció al guitarrista Adam Jones. Posteriormente, se unieron a ellos el batería Danny Carey y el bajista Paul D'Amour. La química entre sus miembros fue instantánea, y en 1992 lanzaron su primer EP titulado Opiate.
La respuesta a Opiate fue positiva, logrando captar la atención del público y de la crítica. La mezcla de letras profundas y pesadas guitarras empezó a definir el sonido que Tool perfeccionaría en las siguientes décadas.
El Salto a la Fama: Undertow
En 1993, Tool lanzó su primer álbum de estudio, Undertow. Este álbum destacaría la capacidad de la banda para mezclar agresión y melodía. Con éxitos como "Sober" y "Prison Sex", Tool no solo cosechó una base de seguidores leales sino que también se estableció como una fuerza a tener en cuenta en la escena alternativa y metal.
