¿Quién es The Chicks? The Chicks, conocidas hasta junio de 2020 como Dixie Chicks, es una banda estadounidense de música country. Fue creada en 1989 en Dallas, Texas, Estados Unidos, por Emily Strayer, Martie Maguire, Laura Lynch y Robin Lynn Macy. Es una de las agrupaciones musicales femeninas que más ha vendido, contando más de treinta millones de copias de sus álbumes hasta 2020. Significado del nombre de The Chicks Tomaron su nombre de la canción y el álbum Dixie Chicks, de Lowell George, cantante, compositor, productor, fundador y líder de la banda de rock estadounidense Little Feat. Sin embargo, el 25 de junio de 2020 dejaron de lado Dixie, atendiendo a las críticas por la posible alusión con esa palabra a la esclavitud en Estados Unidos -que terminó con la Guerra de Secesión-, haciéndose llamar The Chicks. Al respecto manifestaron que habían elegido "ese nombre estúpido" cuando eran adolescentes y hacía años querían cambiarlo, pero finalmente se decidieron cuando vieron en las redes sociales ese mismo mes de junio la bandera su país definida como "la Dixie Swastika". Adicionalmente, no encontraron ninguna objeción de The Chicks, un dúo musical de Nueva Zelanda, para compartir el nombre.
