Es conocido por su participación como miembro del dúo alternativo de hip-hop y R&B el grupo Mansionz con el cantante de música pop Mike Posner. Ha colaborado con varios artistas musicales como Justin Bieber, G-Eazy, Pharrell Williams y Linkin Park, entre otros. Blackbear fue reconocido por co-escribir "Boyfriend" de Justin Bieber, que debutó en el número dos en el Billboard Hot 100.
