'. ¿Quién es OMI? Omar Samuel Pasley, mejor conocido como OMI, es un cantante y compositor jamaicano. Nació el 3 de septiembre de 1986 en May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica. Saltó a la fama con su canción, titulada "Cheerleader", que fue número uno en países como Estados Unidos, Reino Unido y Australia. Solamente en la plataforma digital YouTube, dicho tema alcanzó la extraordinaria cifra de mil trecientos millones de reproducciones. Son otras de sus interpretaciones "Hula Hoop", "Jambo" y "Drop In The Ocean". Significado del nombre Su nombre artístico lo adoptó gracias a que su padre se llamaba Omar, para abreviarlo se inclinó por OMI. Niñez, Juventud y Vida Familiar OMI es hijo de Rachel y Kenroy Pasley, siendo el menor de cuatro hermanos. Su padre falleció cuando el tenía nueve años de edad. Se inclinó hacia por la música a que decidió seguir el camino de su papá, quien era cantautor y artista visual. Ingresó a la escuela de May Pen, para estudiar primaria.
