'. ¿Quién fue Elliott Smith? Steven Paul Smith, más conocido como Elliott Smith, fue un cantautor y músico estadounidense que nació el 6 de agosto de 1969 y falleció el 21 de octubre de 2003. Su instrumento principal fue la guitarra acústica, aunque también utilizaba el piano, el clarinete, el bajo, la armónica y la batería. Smith tenía una suave voz característica y habitualmente recurría a la grabación multipista de su propia voz para crear armonías vocales. Aunque Smith nació en Omaha, Nebraska, creció en Texas, y murió en Los Ángeles, California, residió durante la mayoría de su vida en Portland, Oregón, donde consiguió sus primeros éxitos. Antes de empezar su carrera en solitario, tocó durante varios años en la banda de rock Heatmiser, con la que llegó a sacar varios discos. Sacó su primer disco en solitario en 1994 con publicaciones de los sellos independiente Cavity Search Records y Kill Rock Stars.
