Eurythmics, conocido globalmente como uno de los dúos más icónicos del pop y new wave de la década de 1980, fue fundado por Annie Lennox y Dave Stewart. Ambos músicos británicos se conocieron en la década de 1970, cuando eran miembros de la banda The Tourists. Sin embargo, su verdadero impacto musical ocurrió cuando decidieron formar Eurythmics en 1980, en una época en la que la música pop estaba en constante evolución.

El Origen del Nombre

El nombre Eurythmics proviene de una técnica de desarrollo musical para niños, conocida como eurhythmics. Lennox estudió esta técnica en su juventud, lo que inspiró al dúo a adoptarla como nombre artístico. Este nombre refleja la armoniosa combinación de talentos que ambos aportaron al proyecto.

Primeros Éxitos: El Ascenso en la Escena Musical

El primer álbum del dúo, "In the Garden" (1981), mostró una amplia gama de influencias y experimentación pero no alcanzó el éxito comercial inmediato. Sin embargo, no tardaron en encontrar su rumbo. Fue con su segundo álbum, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" (1983), donde lograron alcanzar reconocimiento mundial. El sencillo homónimo del álbum alcanzó el número 1 en EE. UU. y el número 2 en el Reino Unido.
