Temple Of The Dog: Un Tributo Musical que Resucitó la Amistad y el Dolor
Los Comienzos: Un Tributo a un Amigo Caído
En 1990, el mundo del rock alternativo estaba en plena ebullición, especialmente en la ciudad de Seattle. Fue en este contexto, marcado por un sentimiento de intensa camaradería y tragedia, donde se gestó Temple Of The Dog. La banda se creó como un tributo al fallecido Andrew Wood, líder de las bandas Malfunkshun y Mother Love Bone, quien murió trágicamente de una sobredosis de heroína. Este fue un golpe devastador para sus amigos y compañeros de banda, quienes decidieron rendirle homenaje a través de la música.
La Alquimia Creativa
El guitarrista Stone Gossard y el bajista Jeff Ament eran miembros de Mother Love Bone y fueron de los más afectados por la pérdida de Wood. Unieron fuerzas con Chris Cornell, vocalista de Soundgarden y amigo cercano de Wood, para canalizar su dolor y recuerdos en un proyecto musical. Cornell compuso dos canciones, "Say Hello 2 Heaven" y "Reach Down", como un tributo directo a su amigo fallecido. Este fue el núcleo alrededor del cual se formó Temple Of The Dog.
La Formación de la Banda
Poco a poco, otros músicos se sumaron al proyecto. El guitarrista Mike McCready y el baterista Matt Cameron, quienes más tarde serían parte de Pearl Jam y Soundgarden respectivamente, se unieron al grupo.
