Still you want to be near him
As the crowd cheers him on
′Cause in your heart
To you he will always belong
You rocked his cradle, you rocked his cradle
And you were there long before they opened the door to claim him
Yeah, you were once a team
After the same dream
And you told him, just fight the stars up there, he would rise
Oh, oh, oh, why (why) does it always turn out
(Oh) oh (why) why does it always turn out
Someone else, gets the prize?
Someone else, gets the prize
You sit in the front row
As you listen to him sing
But you know, behind the curtain
Someone's waitin′ in the win
And what did she do? (what did she do?)
Oh, it should have been you (it should have been you)
'Cause you stood by his side when he tried to take his first steps
You rocked his cradle (rocked his cradle)
When he wasn't able (when he wasn′t able)
You put the feeling inside of him
You sang his lullaby
Oh, oh, oh, why (why) does it always turn out
(Oh) oh (why) why does it always turn out
Someone else, gets the prize?
Someone else, gets the prize
Oh, what did she do? (what did she do?)
Well, it should have been you (should have been you)
You rocked his cradle (rocked his cradle)
When he wasn′t able (when he wasn't able)
You put that feeling inside of him
You sang his lullaby, oh
Oh, oh, oh, why (why) does it always turn out
(Oh) oh (why) why does it always turn out
Someone else, gets the prize?
Someone else, gets the prize
Tell me, why (why) does it always turn out
(Oh) oh (why) why does it always turn out
Someone else, gets the prize?
Someone else, gets away with the prize
Tell me, (why) does it always turn out
(Oh) oh (why) why does it always turn out
Someone else, gets the prize?
