Ain't nobody gat nothing good to say
And if ain't a dirty game nobody wants to play
Just shoot em up, hang em up, stick em, get away
And I read in the newspaper things are getting worse everyday
We need to go back
Back to the songs we used to sing
We need to go back
To when we shared a little bit of everything
And if that don't do it
Hope will pull us through it
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray, oh
Everybody's got a surprise in store for you
Ask them where they come from, they tell you where they're going to
Just trick the fool, play it cool, break the rule, you'll get by
And they swear on the bible its the truth when they know its a lie
We need to go back
Back to the songs we used to sing
We need to go back
To when we shared a little bit of everything
And if that don't do it
Hope will pull us through it
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh oh, yeah (we need to go back)
And if that don't do it (we need to go back)
Hope will pull us through it
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray, yeah
Oh (we need to go back)
If we don't make it better (we need to go back)
And we can't get it all together (we need to go back)
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray, oh (we need to go back)
(We need to go back)
Chorus
(We need to go back)
And if that don't do it
(We need to go back)
Hope will pull us through it
(We need to go back)
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray
Ain't pushing a legion
Or charity
I just want things to be
Like they're supposed to be
So if you don't mind my saying some
The only hope of tomorrow is to go back
We need to go back
And I read in the newspaper things are getting worse everyday
Oh we need to go back
Go back, yeah
And if that don't do it
Hope will pull us through it
And if that don't do it
Hope will pull us through it
And you don't know a better way (we need to go back)
That don't do it (we need to go back)
Hope will pull us through it (we need to go back)
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray (we need to go back)
oh, yeah (we need to go back)
We can't get it all together (we need to go back)
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray (we need to go back)
And if that don't make it better (we need to go back)
And we can't get it all together (we need to go back)
And you don't know a better way
Maybe we need to pray (we need to go back)
