Washed around, polished, and lined up
We were as ordinary as they came, indistinguishable from anyone else
We hardened into similar shapes
And self-consciously compared ourselves to everyone around us
We had formed the completely average thought that we were special
And when we realized, we were drowning, flailing our arms around
Absolutely average, we search for obscure places
So we can pride ourselves and say nobody else is like us...
So we don't stick out, so we don't stand out
We looked around at everyone else and matched our paces
When everyone understood that they wanted to be understood
We lost our way, worried, and refused to open our eyes
Absolutely average, we continue dreaming an ordinary dream
Carving it into our chests, so no one can take it away from us
Earnest as ever, we continue to believe
In our own ways of living- even if we don't know what that means...
Absolutely average, we search for obscure places
So we can pride ourselves and say nobody else is like us...
